Trainee – Market Build & Operations (Denmark)
Help bring a brand-new energy technology to Danish homes. Join Photoncycle in Copenhagen as a trainee and build our market from the ground up.
We store summer sun for the winter. Now Photoncycle is heading into thousands of Danish homes, and we are looking for a trainee who wants to help build the market from the ground up. Is that you?
About Photoncycle
Solar panels produce plenty of power in summer and very little in winter, when we need it most. Photoncycle solves that problem: we store the energy in a tank in the ground next to the house, so the household can use it for electricity and heating all winter. Surplus power is sold on the electricity market, where it helps balance supply and demand. The household pays a fixed monthly fee, and we build, install and operate the system.
We are 25 employees with offices in Oslo and Copenhagen. In 2026 we raised a €15 million Series A led by NordicNinja and Voima Ventures. We are now moving from full-scale pilot to commercial rollout, and the first phase of our production plant is underway.
Photoncycle is a completely new technology, and Denmark is our first market.
Why this role
As a trainee, you will be part of building Photoncycle's Danish operations, from research and permit processes to partner dialogues, pilot customers and events. You will report directly to the General Manager, Denmark. You will work across the full breadth of a market launch and get hands-on experience with how a new energy technology is brought to market in Denmark.
The role is deliberately broad, and the scope will be tailored to the number of hours you work. Tasks will shift as the launch gets closer, and your responsibilities will grow with the role down the line.
What you will do
This is a versatile, hands-on role that mixes research, relationships and the nuts-and-bolts work. You will report to Anne Clara Laugesen, General Manager of Photoncycle Denmark, and work closely with our colleagues in Oslo.
Tasks and responsibility will include:
Market build and operations support
• Support our pilot customer programme, from first contact to onboarding
• Follow and assist with permit processes and dialogues with municipalities and authorities
• Help build and maintain relationships with customers, partners and stakeholders
• Take part in preparing test sites and the first installations
Research and analysis
• Desk research on municipalities, funding schemes, partners and competitors
• Monitor funding and grant opportunities
• Collect and structure data and recurring customer questions for internal use
Events and meetings
• Practical planning of customer meetings, community events and site visits: invitations, sign-ups, venue, catering and follow-up
• Prepare material and logistics for conferences and external events the team attends
What you bring
We imagine you being structured and comfortable juggling many small tasks at once. You take ownership, spot what needs to be done, and ask when something is unclear.
We expect you to:
• Be studying, or recently graduated, in a relevant field such as business, energy, engineering, public administration or similar
• Write and speak Danish fluently and work comfortably in English
• Be confident with Office tools and quick to pick up new systems
• Handle confidential information, including customer data, with care
It is a plus if you:
• Have an interest in the energy transition, energy systems or the Danish energy market
• Have experience from a startup, student job or association work with admin or coordination
• Are used to working with AI tools
You don't need to be an energy expert. What matters most is that you enjoy building something new where the right answer isn't known yet – so apply even if you can't tick every box.
What we offer
• A front-row seat to building a new energy company in Denmark ahead of a 2027 launch
• Close daily collaboration with the GM and real responsibility from day one
• Insight into regulation, permits, partnerships and go-to-market in the energy sector
• A small, international team with colleagues in Norway
• An office in the heart of Copenhagen at BloxHub, with a great lunch setup and free coffee
Start and application
The position can be set up in three ways: as a paid student job (15–37 hours a week), as an internship as part of your studies, or as virksomhedspraktik via your jobcentre if you have recently graduated and are currently unemployed. Hours and tasks are tailored to the arrangement. The start date is yesterday – or whenever you're ready, really.
We will be taking interviews as applications come in.
Photoncycle is committed to an inclusive workplace and hires based on skills, experience and potential. We encourage everyone interested to apply, regardless of gender, age, ethnic background, religion or disability.
We look forward to hearing from you!
